"24" and Politics

I am, for the most part, a fan of the show "24" (minus a few boo-boo seasons). But I have been watching and enjoying it this year... that is until recently.

(Disclaimer: a slight spoiler is ahead, so if you are behind in the show, proceed at your own discretion.)

A couple things are beginning to irk me:

  • The incessant "Go Green" commercials interspersed throughout the show, using the actors themselves to promote the supposed global warming theory. They really screwed up last week when the now evil Tony gave his "go green" spiel in the middle of his double crossing... big boo. That did nothing to help the "green" cause.
  • Check out this clip from "24's" new "Chloe", played by Janeane Garofalo. It's her obscene take on the Tea Parties (MSNBC allowing such comments is a whole other thing). You really only have to listen to the first 40secs to get the gist.
Actors should keep their mouths shut when it comes to politics. It would help their careers.

"Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue." Proverbs 17:28

I watched that clip... WOW. That is... disturbing that someone could be so close-minded and obviously totally insulated from any of these supposed 'racists".

I am glad I am not the only one that gets irked by the "go green" spots during the episodes of 24. I really like the show and this season has been one of the better seasons, but that definitely turned me off as well.

Garofalo cracks me up. The fact that anyone still gives her airtime is beyond me. However, not surprising that it was MSNBC. She is a case study in liberal hypocrosy and irony, and this is another classic example. While having the audacity to call tea party goers "racist" she uses a racist epitaph to describe them. Way to go Janeane, you just solidified your idiocy, as if the non-sensical ranting wasn't enough.

I just saw the video of Janeane you posted, I was at first so irritated at how attacking she was to anyone with a different opinion, but then the more you listen the funnier it gets - she is obviously (to put it nicely) a novice who read some psychology book one time and from there decided that anyone who disagrees with her can't think for themselves...how close minded?! She's an angry elf... :)

So sad, cause I've always been kinda a fan of Janeane AS AN ACTRESS. I liked the quirky things she did and then she fell off of the map. I might understand why now.

It never ceases to surprise me the hypocrisy of people who are so 'open-minded.'

That said... I don't watch 24.

My blood was boiling so I had to turn off the clip. (Does anyone actually watch MSNBC and think it's "news"?)

I'm not going to dispute Jaeneane's "redneck" charge, but I'll take issue with the racist, white power, hateful activist who thinks the tea parts weren't about taxes and has no idea what the Boston Tea Party was actually about. (I would love to hear what she thinks the original tea party was about!) The worst part is that the interviewer actually agrees with her! They've got to be kidding me!
