The First Week

What do you think of our President's performance so far? Have you been tracking any of his actions in his first week in office? I know one thing I'm not happy about is the proposed stimulus plan (but more on that to come later this week).

In this post, I want to deal with a life or death issue.

On January 23rd, President Obama removed restrictions on U.S. funding for groups that provide abortion services abroad. Simply put, more of your tax money will now go to organizations that support and promote abortion.

Obama himself in a statement released on the topic, said these groups promote "safe and effective... family planning." AHHHHHH! Abortion as a safe and effective way to plan a family?

You can read more on the matter in this article.

January 22nd was the anniversary of Roe v. Wade which legalized abortion in this nation. Since then there has been a strong push to normalize a horrendous and murderous practice under the name of women's rights or privacy rights. My friend Clayton had a recent post detailing abortion statistics since 1973 when it was made legal in the U.S. Some of the most staggering numbers to me were the estimated 24 abortions a second while over 2,000,000 people wait to adopt babies (in the U.S. alone).

How is your president doing?

You can check out his other policy agendas in relation to family and civil rights on the official White House website: www.whitehouse.gov. Along with this increased funding for abortion, you'll find:
1.Obama's pledged support for the LGBT (lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender) community
2.His desire to expand the "hate crimes" bill to include gender identification (Could make it illegal for pastors to say homosexuality is wrong from the pulpit).
3. His support for overturning the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy in the military.
4. His expansion of human embryonic stem cell research
5. And his opposition to any constitutional overturn of Roe v. Wade

I wonder if people who voted for Obama considered the moral implications of such a decision.

I still wonder how a court ruling could legalize the murder of unborn children when the judicial branch of government is not given the authority make (or in this case "unmake") laws. Isn't that for the legislative branch? I am just wondering if actual legislation was ever passed, someone please inform me.

And if the expansion of the hate crime definition does pass as you say it may, will then the Bible be illegal or considered a hateful document since it declares homosexuality a sin? Just wondering at the potential implications of such a law. Yikes.

It is very upsetting to see the annihilation of a large chunk of a generation. It saddens me that so many people want children and cannot have them while others treat children in utero as some disease of which they must rid themselves.

It is wild to see people like Nancy Pelosi refer to family planning as a way to reduce costs. The government knows it cannot continue to support children born to people without the financial means to take care of them. I wonder when self-control and real responsibility will come back to the forefront.

I've heard it said repeatedly that elections have consequences, but, like you, I am not sure if a majority of the American people took this into consideration.

I hate abortion. Do you realize that 24 abortions a second turns out to 756,864,000 annually? I don't think that's right, but i still hate abortion.

You're right Andy. The numbers don't add up. The stats were from a Department of Health print out here in Florida. The annual number they gave was 1.2 million... which sounds a little more accurate... (Not sure why the seconds are so off, but thanks for doing the math).

I don't think they did. I think many voted with dollars in mind, and their concern for wealth and finances.

It's sad to think that people would actually value money or the promises of improved finances over the life of children.

Ah Kelley this is just sad, so sad! All I can say is we better be praying!

I have been paying attention. So far my grade would be a D.

He has done nothing to "unify" or "change" or bring "hope". What he has done is revert back strongly to his left leaning ideology and placated and satiated his base.

He thinks he knows best and that government is the answer. He believes that the power should lie in the government's hands and that people should be reliant on that government which will ensure power for his party. Basically as he stated many years ago he thinks the Constitution is flawed.

I wonder if the moderates and the so called conservatives who voted for him are paying attention and now thinking "who is this guy"? However, I doubt it because they probably aren't paying that close attention, if they had during the election they wouldn't have voted for him in the first place. The press did an astounding job of covering for him and they still are.

You mentioned a lot of what he has done most of which I don't agree with. He also went on Islamic television and basically apologized for America. That one really got me, disgust me in fact.

He is ruling from the left and is going to saddle America with enormous debt disguised in a stimilus package, which is actually nothing more than the biggest pork barrel project in our history. People, study your history, the new deal didn't work and the "new" new deal won't either. I could go on and on.

He is most likely going to undermine all the progress that has been made in the right to life movement by signing the Freedom Of Choice Act. He is not going to change anything about how politics are done in Washington if his appointments and early decisions are any indication.

Overall in his first week and a half, he severely weakened our nation, showed no moral character on the issue of life, has apologized for our "dictating" abroad(interesting choice of words), and has started his campaign to silence conservative voices. I really think a lot of people are going to be very dissapointed with the real Obama, but hey we tried to warn them. (sighing)

Even though the numbers are off, its still sickening to know how many abortions occur every year.I wish people knew the options they had with adopting. I get so mad when people say they got abortions because they couldn't afford the baby or the medical care. Don't they know there are people out there that will take great care of their child, pay their medical expenses, and in some cases pay them additional compensation? Why can't people check out all options before resulting to such a heinous act?

No. They didn't. They were either hypnotized or cared more for their pocketbooks...oh yeah and don't know that the abortion industry (Planned Parenthood) is a systematized way to kill of black people and minorities.
